NI and Arturia pander to the buffet mentality - look all the thins you can get in the bundle at 50% off - but you forget that most of the bundle is made up or really old software. A lot of little players that make amazing tools that in many cases blow them away. I think all these older companies like NI and Arturia are in a very crowded and stuffed market space. I would not be surprised if 90% of users just user presets as they are are mix and match and shuffle without every adjusting a macro. If you look at the ads for their products it tells you a lot. They just want to click a color on a screen or tap a button on a controller and get instant musical gratification. I would guesstimate that most of NI and Akai customers don't want a complex tools like Reaktor or Kore where you have to sit there and learn it and figure it out to get results. They cater to hobbyists and casual consumer users who alternate between gaming, instagram posing and making beats. But also to add, I think the reasons it's "dumbed down" and lack of "innovation" (not sure what that means as all these synth and beat machines sound all retro to me, but whatever!) is these companies are not VSL or Pro Tools that cater to professionals in the industry. There are too many players in the music software market. It's pure speculation, but had NI continued to develop Kore, not abandon so many VST's, not ignore Battery 3 and realize Battery 4 was mostly just marketing fluff, plus keep Stephan Schmitt (the founder of NI), JWH, and other employees, I think NI would still be a leader of innovation today. Are we worse off? I would say yes from an innovation perspective, however everyone else has now caught up. You learn from your mistakes and improve next time. And KK NKS is a refinement of the Kore sound extension. Realizing a huge demand, (MPC2000 at that time) adding but dumbing down a very few Kore features, adding VST in the box, and marketing it as "the center of your production" was a brilliant financial move.not innovation. There wasn't much innovation in Maschine. I'm still amused at the official statement where management supposedly "agonized" over dumping Kore when they absolutely knew Maschine would outsell Kore 10 if not 100 times more. I think NI could have continued the way they did in the first decade and do fine like Arturia, but not as financially well as they have done. But from a innovative user perspective, valuing and balancing innovation with less revenue, I like the way Arturia has evolved much more. If I were CEO of NI, I might have done the same thing Haver did with NI.and then of course bail out. Both NI and Arturia have evolved, and personally, I like the way Arturia has evolved as opposed to NI. Money was invested to generate exponential revenue compared to NI's 1st 10 years. Why did NI dump Pro-53? B4? Spektral Delay, Kore? Why was Reaktor ignored for years with well-known builders fearing the end? My guess is money. Look at all the products NI has dumped over the years. They even have gone back and improved sound engines in some and GUI's.Īrturias Origin software/hardware was a failure if you base it on discontinuing a product probably because of cost and cheap physical hardware, just like DSI did with the PolyEvolver. Arturia has had fewer blunders along their way and they still support their very old VSTI's. Arturia, today has much fewer employees and I'm guessing much less revenue, and is substantially smaller than NI. Both started exclusively with software about the same time. ![]() Who do you think is NI's most direct or similar competitor? The closest I would guess is Arturia. And of course, the same could be said about pretty much any other company. You've been saying all this for years now, ignoring the fact that the same could be said about pretty much every other companyYes, about 10 years. ![]() ![]() ![]() Such integration provides R-Studio with a low-level fine-tuned access to drives with a certain level of hardware malfunction. In short, I’m not an animator, I just know the limitations of the plugins that I wrote, and have basic knowledge of how blender works. You may want to shorten the end time of the animation since it defaults at 250 frames, but the plugins will only export up to the last frame that you posed. buttons at the bottom of blender to preview an animation that you made. The plugins will pickup the transitions and saving an animation is no different than saving a pose. You can click and drag on the timeline to watch blender transition from one pose to the next. In plainest terms, set a pose just as OM’s tutorial says, then move to another frame in the timeline at the bottom, and make another pose. The tutorials here made by orangemittens here do show the basics of how to get a pose/animation from blender into TS3, and there are other generic blender specific tutorials that will show how to add more frames to an animation. ![]() I’m sorry, I don’t make tutorials for this, I just really make the tools(I am not an animator, never even made a real pose). The Maschine software is basically an advanced pattern-based sequencer application which allows you to create patterns, group them, and arrange them in “scenes”. You would almost forget that there is a piece of software doing all the actual work. The cool thing is that pretty much everything in Maschine can be done from this dedicated controller. The pads, knobs and buttons can all be customized with the included controller editor application. The two LCD displays are clear and easy to read (as long as the angle is steep enough the contrast can be adjusted) and have plenty of space to display the parameter pages.īesides using the controller with the Maschine software, you can also control external MIDI hardware (via MIDI in/out on the back panel) and other software. After authorizing Maschine in the Service Center, I figured it was a good idea to download the latest update as well. The installation of the drivers and Maschine software was a breeze it just takes a while to copy all the content from the DVD. The installation disc was all the way in the bottom of the box, so I almost missed it. I am a long time Windows user though, so I know better than to just hook up anything USB without checking for drivers first. All I can think is “hook it up man, let’s get going!” I open the box and the first thing I see is this lovely control surface. I generally don’t read manuals anyway, but Native Instruments doesn’t encourage me much either. So let’s take a looks at what this Maschine is all about! Where’s the installation disk? Utilizing onboard samples or your own audio files, MASCHINE’s symbiosis of hardware and software not only ensures a fast and fun workflow, but lets you easily turn your ideas into professional productions. MASCHINE combines the flexibility of computer-based music production with the ease of a groove box into one powerful creative tool. Native Instruments has recently introduced Maschine, a powerful combination of software and hardware, or as they put it, a complete Groove Production Studio. Where as in the past one would typically use a number of traditional instruments, synthesizers, drum machines, mixing panels, etc., software has opened the door for many home studio musicians to produce music on a budget.Īlthough you could easily get along using software exclusively, you may still want to use a controller when recording music, so you can actually “play it” instead of programming everything.
